Safesport, Background Screen, and CAHA ABI Training

We ask that each family have at least one parent/guardian that is Safesport certified. 

1)Follow the link below to register for a FREE volunteer USA Hockey Number https://membership.usahockey.com/

2) Follow this link to complete Safesport Training: https://www.usahockey.com/safesportprogram Click on "Safesport Training" you will be prompted to log in with your USA Hockey Number. Training takes approximately 90 min. Certificate is valid for one year 

3) Complete the background screening: https://www.usahockey.com/backgroundscreen

Cost approximately $35 but may be more and can take up to 2 weeks to clear. This needs to be completed every other year.

4) Once your background screening clears, please email a copy of your Safesport certificate, and cleared background screening to 

Every year parents and hockey players in California have to complete CAHA’s Anti- Bullying and Inclusion Training(ABI). The training portal just opened if you would like to complete it now.

THIS IS REQUIRED for the FALL. Travel players can not be rostered in August if it is not complete. It should take about 30 minutes to complete. DEADLINE TO COMPLETE IS AUGUST 1st.

1. A Parent must complete the training first. Once you have completed the ABI training, you will receive an email with a certificate and a confirmation number.

1. For the Player to complete the training, you will enter the confirmation number from the parent’s certificate at the start of the training. Please use the same name for your player that will be used for registration and rostering. You will receive a confirmation email that the player has completed the training. 

Save the certificates in case you are prompted to send them in to the registrar or your team manager
